A muffler cutter (more commonly referred to in North America as an exhaust pipe cutter or tailpipe cutter) uses a chain style system to slice cleanly through steel, stainless steel, or galvanized exhaust tubes. Unlike a standard hacksaw, which can drift and leave an uneven, jagged edge, a dedicated pipe cutter tracks perfectly straight around the circumference of the tube, creating a square, burr-free cut that ensures a leak-free slip-fit or weld connection.
