A concrete fresno is a long-handled finish trowel made of tempered high-carbon or blue steel used to seal, smooth, and tightly skin the surface of a concrete slab after it has been bull-floated. Unlike a wide magnesium bull float that embeds gravel and draws up paste, a fresno is thin (typically 5 inches wide) and acts exactly like a large hand trowel on an extension pole, allowing finishers to achieve a smooth texture without walking onto the wet slab.
Round End Fresno's are highly recommended because the curved blade corners prevent the tool from carving unsightly line marks or gouges into the drying concrete if the handle shifts angle slightly.
