  • A kingpin reamer is used to resize and line-ream newly installed brass or bronze kingpin bushings on a vehicle's steering knuckle. When fresh bushings are pressed into a spindle, the metal compresses and distorts slightly. Passing a kingpin reamer through them shaves down the high spots to achieve a flawless, concentric fitment with tight tolerances, ensuring the steering kingpin doesn't seize or develop loose play.
