Wallpaper perforators commonly called wallpaper scoring tools or paper tigers are a handheld tool designed to puncture the water-resistant outer facing of wallpaper. By rolling the tool across a wall, it creates thousands of tiny holes, allowing steam (from a wallpaper steamer) or chemical wallpaper remover solutions to easily penetrate straight to the backing paste underneath. Without perforating, the steam (or remover liquids) will simply bead up and slide off vinyl, foil, or painted papers.
